Nothing Quite so Comforting

Our country shouldn't become bi-lingual because we've ALWAYS spoken English in this country.

I think you are giving Howard Zinn a run for his money.

I suppose we should also forget that whole "Give me your tired, your poor,Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door" thing.

I have to say, this one was pretty bitter, even for me.

But it annoys me when people have a firm opinion about where we should go without having the slightest idea about where we came from.

Ya know?

Like ive said, it bugs me that more people can name 5 singers on American Idol than the 5 rights protected under the First Amendment. I also believe that ALL Americans should have to take the INS test. That way they can see how difficult it is to become an American.

I think that is a fantastic idea. I thought so the first time you mentioned it, and I think so now. Maybe it should be a high school graduation requirement?

wow...i could have skipped a lot of history tests for that.

I like the idea but the graduation rate in Georgia is only around 60%. What would we do with a rate around 30%? And so no one thinks im being a snob, 5 years ago i also would have failed.

I probably would have to. Which brings up a whole host of issues about our educational system...
